"The Kings Speech" was a Powerful one , indeed!!

"The Kings Speech", directed by Tom Hooper is all about the the stammering success story,
"Duke of York" played by "Colin Firth",  latted crowned as "King George VI".The poor king tries out many solution for his stuttering,  but fails to get an unstammered flow of speech until he meets the orthodox Australian speech therapist in London , "Lionel Logue" played by "Geoffrey Rush", and gets some tricks to manage his inability.
The film opens with the speech of  the "Duke of York" at the close of the 1925 Empire Exhibition at Wembley, , which he messes up with his "speech disfluency".This upsets the mob and and made them think about who has to take over the throne after "King George V".
It is after this disgraceful incident, "Duke of York" meets Lionel. In their first session of speech therapy,Lionel requests that they address each other by their Christian names, a breach of royal etiquette. The Prince agrees for this after a hesitation.Lionel requests the Prince to read a soliloquy, while listening to the music of Mozart.Lionel records his voice, and after the completion of the speech , Lionel convinced The prince that he was fluent in his speech, but the Prince leaves in nihilism.Liolen offers him the recording as a keepsake.
Days rolled by , and one fine day , "Duke of yoke " listens to that recording and was astonished , it was a splendid fluent speech. He then  gets back to Lionel and undergoes the speech therapy. His sessions focused on muscle relaxation , breath control and other canonical treatments.
The final scene of the movie is the speech of  "King George VI" upon the declaration of war with Germany.
Logue stays with the king in the studio during the radio broadcast. The King delivers his speech as if to Logue , who coaches him through every moment. The King delivers his speech with fluency , following the tips and tricks offered by Lionel.

Bottom Line-Do not miss this true classy!

"One Twenty Seven Hours" not for One And A Half Hours

This is the much awaited movie, directed by the British Indie film maker "Danny Boyle".I guess this crew is very much used to get nominated for the academy awards.Last time around , for the most bugging Bollywood masala, "Slumdog Millionaire" , they won 8 Oscars, and now for this this , its nominated for 8 academy  awards. The Mozart Of Madras , A.R.Rahman makes us proud again by getting nominated for the best original score.IMDB rates this movie  8.2/10.

This movie is based on the autobiography, "Between a rock and a hard place" written by Boyle and Simon Beaufoy. The film stars James Franco as real-life mountain climber Aron Ralston , who got trapped by a boulder in Robbers Roost,Utah , for more than 127 hours before dissecting his hand with a dull "China Knife". I must say that James Franco has done perfect justice to his director. During this long span of 127 hours he examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover that he has the courage to save himself by any means. At the end of 127 hours he amputates his trapped arm to save his life.Small nuances in the film were admirable, but what ever may be the case , How long can u watch a person in the same place shouting in agony ? and hence I say it should have been a short film.
I'am a hard core fan of A.R.Rahman , but felt nothing astonishing in his works for this movie. Some background scores of Ravanan were slightly herd. When compared to his works for Our Indian Director genius,"Mani Ratnam", I guess  "Danny Boyle" is a little unlucky. But very happy that Rahman  got nominated this time too...

Bottom Line-
This movie is watchable once, but fails to satisfy the hype that it created. If you go to the theater with the mind set, mapping out its Oscar nominations and hype it created, you would end up in disappointment.

The Day when my senses stood still.......

It was a drowsy Sunday night and it was raining cats and dogs.Me,mom, dad and my uncle who had come from the states after a very long span of 12 years decided to have a brisk dinner in a good restaurant. Finally the call was "Sachin ka dhaba besant nagar".I asked my dad, a formality permission to drive the car.My access point was clearly defined and my father readily gave me the keys.
Every thing was normal as it should be because it was not the first time I'am driving a car.Every thing changed when we reached the Besant Nagar beach. Two barricades placed very close to each other and the vision from the steering wheel being nil, I was forced to slow down from the late 60's to the young 20's.I had to take an immediate left turn after those idiotic barricades which I did perfectly but failed to notice the "Big Boss pavement" on to my left.
And Yes !! as you all guessed I drove on to the pavement and tore the tires and misshaped the rim.Our car dint move an inch and the car from behind started to blow its horn rapidly. This was exactly when my senses stood still.Dad quickly came to the rescue and drove it to the corner of the road.
